GlobalSpellChecker is a tool for checking the spelling or meaning of words from any application using Microsoft Word. It displays the meaning or spelling suggestion in a non-disturbing way so that you do not have to shift from the application you are working in. You can copy the word to be checked to the Clipboard by pressing Ctrl+C and invoke GlobalSpellChecker using hotkey Ctrl+Alt+S. Unlike other programs in this category, GlobalSpellchecker is loaded in memory only when called and exits after spelling check is complete. GNU Aspell is a Free and Open Source spell checker designed to eventually replace Ispell. It can either be used as a library or as an independent spell checker. Its main feature is that it does a superior job of suggesting possible replacements for a misspelled word than just about any other spell checker out there for the English language. Unlike Ispell, Aspell can also easily check documents in UTF-8 without having to use a special dictionary. Aspell also does its best to respect the user's current locale settings.
