Foxit PDF Reader by Foxit Software Business and Productivity → Word Processing → PDF
Foxit PDF Reader is small so you can download it quickly, it doesn't need any lengthy installation, so you can start to run it as soon as you can download it (and it starts up immediately, so you don't need to wait for an annoying "Welcome" screen to disappear!). Foxit PDF Reader is extremely easy to use, just double click it to start and then click the "Open" button to open your PDF document....

Absolutely tremendous and please disregard the "one star" as I clicked before setting to "5 stars!" Outstanding, glitch free program I wouldn't be without - and a TINY fraction of Acrobat with better results. Recommended most highly.

I just tried the brand new Foxit 3.0.1120 and found out it DOES NOT read permission password protected Acrobat 9 PDF files! It CLAIMS I need a 'User Password' to unlock the file. FALSE! There are no user passwords for my files. All my secured files are locked with permission passwords. I'll stay with Adobe Acrobat 9 Reader Lite. It actually works with my files.

Whoever thinks Foxit is the only good PDF reader isn't trying all of the PDF readers first.

raymond4500332 we're listing the FREE version of Foxit & for general use it's a neat LITTLE program only 1.67M. It will open most PDF files that the average user needs to read. As an alternative to Adobe's 20 megabytes bloatware (how can they call it 'Lite'?!?) just to read the occasional PDF file, it does its job. I can't comment on version 3, it's not free.
Personally, I'd have to say that, if you're working with secure files *especially* Adobe secured ones, it doesn't make much sense to try to use a non-Adobe program. There's just too much that could go wrong including the program not using the "exact" terminology that Adobe uses but meaning the same thing. I'm not saying that's what happened but it is a possibility.
