Stellarium is a free Open Source planetarium, it renders 3D photo-realistic skies in real time with OpenGL. It displays stars, constellations, planets, nebulas and others things like ground, landscape, atmosphere, etc....

Fairly simple astronomy sky-viewing software. A solid program though, simple to use, and with enough features to keep me occupied for some time.
Four Stars.
Edit: Oh man, I'm still using version 0.4.3. The screenshots of version 0.8 at the Stellarium website look much improved!

This is the best piece astronomy software in history, it's life like realism makes you wonder, if ever wanted go to the moon in real time, it's breathtaking view WILL take breath away.
30 years ago, I thought, someone is going to make a computer program that will be SO real, you think you are still dreaming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
