Fresh Download by FreshDevices Corp. Internet → Download Managers
Fresh Download is an easy-to-use and very fast download manager software that turbo charges downloading files from the Internet, such as your favorite software, mp3 files, video files, picture collections, etc. Unlike any other similar utilities, this software is 100% free, no charges, no banners/ads in the software (which will slowdown your download), no spyware. Note: To receive a registration code (to unlock the software) you need to register (free)....

P_R7 The speed of a download is dictated by your own Internet connection (dial-up/cable/DSL) speed; the capability of the server that is delivering the file (fast or normal); and the physical lcation of that server in relation to you.
A download manager doesn't speed up a download *significantly* no matter what they claim! It's usually only noticable on a dial-up connection & even that IMHO can be simply an illusion ;)
That said, it is still a good idea to *use* a download manager. It will give you more control of downloads - resume if the connection breaks; pause & resume later; stop the download; etc.
AFAIK *none* of the programs we list contain spyware or advertising, at least they didn't at the time I listed the program!
Personal recommendation : - Download Express, (that's why the listing says "*Dee's Pick!") or Firefox browser's built-in download manager.
A *really* good download manager is Net Vampire unfortunately it's now $20 shareware although it is free to try ;)

Fresh Download contains adware. There were several files placed on my computer, in addition to registry entries. If you eliminate them, the program no longer functions. To my knowledge, none of the other programs offerred by them contain any spyware, or adware. What better way to catch you off-guard, than to advertise (LIE!) no adware, or spyware.

Black Knight we don't test software but Softpedia does. They updated to the latest version of this program yesterday, Oct 22nd & they say it's clean, here's their listing page.
Fresh Download integrates with several browsers so it will create registry entries. As to other files, what were they & why do you think they are adware?
