System Utilities → File Management → File Splitting

HJSplit is a program for splitting larger files into smaller ones. With it you can also compare two files for absolute equality, generate checksums, and last but not least: glue the previously split file-parts back together again. Very useful for transferring large files onto disks or through networks!...

User interface is average to poor, but it does the job of file-splitting and joining effectively and efficiently

This program works great for file-splitting and joining (didn't test other functionality) although it's quite inflexible (e.g. you can't choose output folder of split file) and the user interface is not intuitive (besides, a luminous Green and Purple colour scheme does not exactly scream professionalism, but maybe that's just my taste). It's effectve and fast though, tested it on a zip file and wmv file (which are problematic file types for splitters) and had no problems
