XXCLONE  by Pixelab, Inc.
System Utilities → Disks HDD and Storage → Hard Disk Drive

XXCLONE copies the whole system volume to another disk that will be ready to boot without a restore step. You may boot the system from the clone volume when disaster strikes. The cloned volume may be of any size as long as the volume data can fit....

THIS PROGRAM *IS* FREEWARE!!
You can download a PRO version trial but that is NOT the program or download that we are linking to. Here's a direct quote from the licence agreement of the installation on my own system:

You may install and use this program on any number of computers as long as the computers are your personal property AND the computers are operated only for non-commercial usage.

If you are an owner of a business of any size and the computer is used for business in any way, you must not install and use XXCLONE Freeware on the computer even if the typical use is personal.

If your intended use of this program is to evaluate the product, you should not use this version. Rather, you should sign up for the XXCLONE Test Drive package for a 30-day evaluation.

You may distribute the XXCLONE Freeware Version to your friends in its original format (XXCLONE.ZIP). However, you must not charge a fee for distribution.

Had numerous problems cloning my laptop's HDD. I cloned the HDD no less than 4 times, however, each time, 2+ GB of data did not copy from the old drive to the new one. Since I am trying to upgrade from a smaller HDD to a larger one, I needed this drive to copy, boot and work flawlessly. However, this was not the case in each instance. It did copy, it did boot, but it does not work flawlessly. The problems I've come across so far are: sound does not work, windows installer fails and does not permit ANYTHING from being installed, windows media player fails to launch. Those are just the few things I've discovered so far.

Outstanding, Best I've ever used!! Hard drive was slowly going bad in my laptop. Downloaded and installed XXCone. Put new drive in a $9 USB encloser and cloned it in less than an hour. Swapped cloned drive to laptop. Everything worked the first time, even the Mircosoft and Symantec programs. And It was free!!! I'll buy the full version of this program for the extra features, it's worth it.

Great Program! Had to format my drive because of viruses, courtesy of my 15 year old, cloned my husband's boot drive, inserted XXCloned drive into the tower, and it booted without a problem! Great job!

Simple (in the best sense of the word), efficient and effective; backed up complete bootable system to slave, which tested perfectly. Highly recommended.
