The website for "Free DVD Burner" offers a free version -- but this version works for CDs ONLY!!! (according to their own description). To burn DVDs you have to download the for-sale version. Not exactly a "Free DVD Burner" (according to their own description).

mk where exactly did you find this information?!?
OH! I see!! ;-)
You clicked on the Google PAID AD for "Express Burn Disc Burning Software", MinidvdSoft's pages are 'littered' with ads for that program. Sure there's a free version of that which only burns CD's but it's NOT the program we have listed!
Our listing is for MinidvdSoft's Free DVD Burner
FAQs:
"What kinds of DVD/CD discs does Free DVD Burner support?"
"Free DVD Burner can burn files and folders to most DVD/CD discs such as CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW and DVD+/-R."
How to use Free DVD Burner:
1) Start FREE DVD Burner, insert a blank CD/DVD and select the CD/DVD burning device.
2) Click "Size Limit" button to select disc size. The default setting is DVD-5 (4.5GB).

Thanks, FHTeam! I always go to the website before downloading apps, to learn as much as I can. Their website is kind of misleading since it leads one directly to the "Express Burn Disc Burning Software" -- which is apparently not the app you're offering. Confusing.....
I've downloaded "MinidvdSoft's Free DVD Burner", haven't tried it yet. Again, thanks.

You're right mk their website is misleading - intentionally of course since every click on the ads earns them a few pennies! - personally I think it's a bit over the top. The program was submitted several weeks ago, I didn't list it immediately because of the ads, I waited until I saw a couple of good reviews of it ;-)

I downloaded minidvdsoft's free dvd burner, and found it clean, simple, and easy to use.
I need 3rd party software to burn dvds to my dvd drive under Windows XP since XP does not support burning to dvds itself, but will allow it under 3rd party software.
This worked first time and right away for me, without a hitch.
