The Wizard's Apprentice

Program: The Wizard's Apprentice Version:1.6
Author: Dion Nicolaas
Website: [ http://wizapp.sourceforge.net/ ]
Download: [ 261 KB ]
Requirements: Windows XP/Vista/7/8.0
Description: Scripts are everywhere. As long as you use the right tool for the right job, scripts are short, fast and effective. There is one area where they usually lack: user interactivity. It is difficult to create a good user interface in most script languages. Now there is the Wizard's Apprentice. It will allow you to ask questions from a script file, using Windows dialog boxes in the so-called Wizard style: large dialogs asking one question at a time, with a Back button, a Next button and a Cancel button. Using a well-described and portable API you can create a wealth of commonly used dialog controls. With a few common scripting techniques, the Wizard's Apprentice will allow you to create wizards with style!

Zenity for Windows

Program: Zenity for Windows Version:2.2
Author: Glynn Foster
Website: [ http://placella.com/software/zenity/ ]
Download: [ 7.53 MB ]
Requirements: Windows XP/Vista/7/8.0
Description: Zenity is a utility used to add GUI forms to scripts and receive feedback from the user. It was designed for use with Linux and GNOME. It uses GTK+ and GLADE libraries. The official website for Zenity is: http://live.gnome.org/Zenity. I have ported the latest version (2.28.0) of this software to Windows (win32). It should work for both XP and Vista.
Notes: KNOWN ISSUES:
1: Help files don't build.
2: When executing from a batch script, the annoying black window belonging to "cmd.exe" stays in the background all the time. I have a written a program, "bg_start", to take care of this http://www.placella.com/software/bg_start/.
3: Even though the "win32-3" version is built with support for LIBNOTIFY, this feature does not really work as it requires a "notification daemon", yet I'm not able to find one that works in windows.
4: The program refuses to install on 64-bit systems. To overcome this, you can right-click on the installer, select properties, then tick the box near "Run this program in compatibility mode". It will work just fine then.
